Ed was responsible for managing the Westin Maui and the Kapalua Bay Hotel and the start up of the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort. The Westin Maui is a 750 room grand ocean resort and spa, the Kapalua Bay Hotel a 190 room former Rockresort that caters to the most discerning clientele, and the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort is one of the most successful timeshare resorts in the world.

Area Vice President & General Manager

Responsible for management of the 512 room Aston Wailea Resort, including condominium and hotel properties on the south shore of Maui, Hawaii.

As General Manager of the world-class 250-room Manele Bay Hotel, Ed participated in the opening of the property and hosting of events for numerous luminaries (including the wedding of Bill Gates and Melinda French). Resort management responsibilities included island retail, security, transportation, employee housing, purchasing and community and governmental relations.

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts
From Trainee to General Manager

Having worked at properties that included the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero, the Hyatt Regency Dallas and Hyatt Regency Maui, Ed opened hotels and successfully managed them through changes in ownership and management.

Additional Achievements

Ed holds a B.B.A. in Management from the University of Texas and a B.S.B.A. in Hotel Management from the University of Denver. He has lectured at Florida State University in the undergraduate and graduate programs in its School of Hotel Management, and served on a number of boards and commissions, including the Civil Service Commission, Maui Visitors Bureau (Chair), Hawaii Visitors Bureau (Executive Committee), Maui Food Bank (Secretary), Better Business Bureau, and Cities and Schools.
