While at this for-profit subsidiary of The OSU Research Park at Ohio University, Mark co-founded the Ohio TechAngel Funds, an early stage venture capital fund that focuses on the life sciences, information technology and physical sciences market sectors, and which is one of the largest committed angel funds in the United States.  

The Ohio Partners

Formed by Maury Cox, former President & CEO of CompuServe and the Dispatch Printing Company, The Ohio Partners was a $35 million venture fund involved in an initial public offering and numerous acquisitions. Mark was engaged in sourcing deal flow, reviewing and analyzing investment proposals, performing due diligence, preparing investment proposals and negotiating valuation and deal terms; assisting portfolio companies in designing and implementing accounting, budgeting and reporting systems, recruiting senior level management, securing bank financing; and attracting follow-on venture capital.


 CompuServe was an $800 million publicly traded information technology company.  Mark directed financial planning and analysis, cost accounting and internal reporting, treasury and foreign exchange, insurance, M&A and strategic planning operations. Mark managed the launch of the company's $530 million initial public offering that was led by Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch, and helped grow company revenues over 330% over a 6-year period.


Mark holds an M.B.A. from The Ohio State University and a B.A. from Ohio University, where he was an Outstanding Undergraduate of 1978.
