Michael managed the acquisition, master planning, development and construction, and continues to manage the operation of this 140-acre property located in Southeastern Ohio, that includes an inn with 6 guest rooms, 13 cottages, dining facilities for 50 and extensive walking trails. 

Lakeside - The Chautauqua on Lake Erie

Lakeside is a resort community with 900 homes, two hotels, several restaurants and numerous recreational activities.  As one of the original Methodist-inspired Chautauqua sites founded in 1873, Lakeside offers a stellar selection of summer season programming options related to studies in mind, body and spirit.  Michael managed a $3 million annual budget that included lodging, dining, admissions, campground, group housing and shuttle services.

Located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, this is a 31-room inn with a dining room seating of 150 and a tavern seating 30 people.  In addition to managing the operations, Michael coordinated a $1.5 million upgrade, redesign and refurbishment of this property.

 Reporting to the company's President, Michael was responsible for recruiting, compensation, training and executive development of this $700 million publicly traded company with 4,500 employees in 21 states.

Michael was Midwest Regional Director and served on the National Board of Directors of Select Registry - a Collection of 400 of the Finer Inns of North America.  He was Treasurer of the Hocking County Tourism Association. 

He was also co-founder and president of the Cable Television Human Resources Association - a national organization of Cable HR professionals.  He received the Walter Kaitz award for Time Warner Cable's commitment to diversity.  He has spoken regionally and nationally on the topic of "Personalized Guest Service" in the lodging industry and on the topic of "Operations Efficiency".  

Michael holds a B.F.A. in Organizational Communication from Ohio University and a M.S. in Human Resources Management from American University.
